You need to create or connect a wallet to send and receive payments. The process to create a personal or a page wallet is the same.
Your wallet is used to store your cryptocurrencies, collect payments, and pay for services and products. You can find more information about cryptocurrency wallets in general and about 2key wallets here.
Page wallets are integrated with SmartLinks’ smart contracts and used to collect funds generated by a SmartLink (Donation, SmartSessions, Token sale …) or to finance SmartLinks' rewards not based on a percentage of collected funds (PPC, …).
When opening an account or a page on 2key, you are prompted to create a wallet or create a SmartLink.
To create a 2key wallet:
On the right end of the top menu bar, click on your profile icon.
In the scroll-down menu, click Create Wallet.
I. Enter a name for your wallet
Note: the system automatically displays your username or page name as the default wallet name.
II. Enter a password.
III. Confirm the password.
IV. Click Next.
b. To connect an external wallet
I. Click on the link below the Next button.
II. From the newly opened window, select the wallet to connect.
III. Follow the external wallet instructions.
2. If you opted to create a 2key wallet and clicked Next, You are presented with a new window.
a. (Recommended)To back up your wallet, click Show recovery words.
Secret words (mnemonics) are used to recover your wallet from any compatible HD wallet. It is the only way to guarantee access to your wallet and the funds it contains if you lose your wallet password. Store these secret words in a secure and private location.
I. From the newly opened window, save the displayed secret words in the chronological order they are displayed by:
Clicking Download Phrase.
Copying them on a piece of paper.
II. Click I have Saved My Recovery Phrase.
III. In the Test window, click on each of the displayed secret words in chronological order.
IV. Click Next.
A new window opens
: Do not navigate away until the wallet registration confirmation window is displayed.
V. In the wallet confirmation window, click Continue.
VI. Your wallet page opens.
b. To postpone backing up your wallet, click I will back up later.
Your wallet is registered on the Ethereum blockchain.
Note: without the secret words, you are only able to access your 2key wallet from 2key.io and cannot recover it if your password is lost. The system will regularly prompt you to back up your wallet until you have done so.
3. (Optional) Transfer cryptocurrencies to your wallet or buy some with your credit card.
